Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge - Conservation Meeting then Hike the Refuge

Please join the Olympia Mountaineers for their annual Conservation and Stewardship projects planning meeting and hike at the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Meet at 9:00 am at the Visitor Center to exchange ideas on conservation and stewardship projects in the South Sound area for the year.  We are looking for outdoor enthusiasts who want to play a small role in helping protect and restore the magnificent gifts of the Pacific Northwest. Get dirty and give back to nature.   We have arranged a brief presentation by staff on the status of the Estuary Restoration.  At 10:00 a hike of the refuge grounds follows the meeting. The birding is great this time of year.  Bring your binoculars or borrow mine.  The Refuge has a $3.00 entrance fee.

Thanks Jim and Mike for introducing us to the Refuge and volunteer opportunities there. We are looking forward to doing at least one project there this year and will contact them directly to see where we can be of the most use. It was nice meeting all you all!

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for signing up for tomorrow's meeting/hike. Just so you know, this is our (Olympia Mountaineers) annual but very informal meeting to generate ideas and engagement in various conservation activities to give back to the land, forests, trails and all that makes the Pacific Northwest a glorious place to explore and enjoy. The Refuge staff ask that we meet at the visitor center and they will be moving us to site of a meeting and presentation. The meeting will end at 10:00 and we are off hiking through the refuge. Birds, specifically waterfowl are a big deal this time of year. Thanks again.
    I'll see you tomorrow
