Rock Candy Mountain Capitol Forest

Close to town, lots of parking. We will do between 7 and 13 miles and it's supposed to be sunny and 54 degrees out. Discover pass required. It is close enough to town to take your own car if you are not sure how far you want to go. I would like to do 13, but everyone can set their own turn around spot if doing a shorter hike.

Great weather. Thanks for making it happen Sandy! Is anyone interested in going out this upcoming Monday or Tuesday?

A perfect day to hike. The Rock Candy and North Rim trails are in good condition with some muddy spots. Some of us turned around before the halfway point which was an option discussed by the organizers before heading out due to the length of the hike. Thanks Sandy and Dirk for your efforts. Nice to meet everyone.

We got out at 3:30, lost the trail in a new section, but found it again. Great day. Thanks to all of you for joining us.

Hey guys - next time you do a trail hike, can you post the map or the trail destinations in advance on-line. Thanks!

Outstanding. The trail was in relatively good shape other than a few mud muddles and patches of leftover snow.

I have to be at work at 530pm Monday in Oly. Does that work with the schedule? i have car and discover pass too so i can drive.

That should be fine. If you do the loop it's 13.6 but their are shorter routes. I figure if we go slow we will still be out by 4 at the latest and I am guessing around 3.

I have one. Its to park at the trail head. Otherwise you pay there. And I can fit possibly four people in my car.

Is this a dog friendly hike/

    March 22, 2013

    • sandy

I prefer not to have dogs, but I think they are allowed in the forest.
