Mt Rainier Skyline Trail

We'll start from Paradise and hike the Skyline trail. It can take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours.  It is a strenuous hike going up the loop. Along the top of the loop and the descent it's not as strenuous. The view is worth it though!

The Paradise parking area fills up quickly on weekends, so we'll do our best to get there early enough to park.

There shouldn't be a whole lot of snow to worry about - normal hiking shoes should suffice.

This is my favorite of all hikes!  I really enjoy it and am looking forward to sharing the experience!

As always, the people are the best part! We had good views. I'm glad we got there earlier to avoid parking issues.

If anyone is coming from the Olympia area, I can carpool from the McKenna Y (in back of Baydos). I can take 3 people.

Teresa, I sent you this message over email - but you may not have seen it, so I'll post it here. We will be at Paradise, not Sunrise. If it's crowded at Paradise, we often have to park away from the main lot & it might be difficult to find each other.

So if you want to meet at Paradise, let's meet in the Paradise Inn lobby area. That way, no matter who is there first, it's easy to wait in the lobby.

Or, you can meet us at the Nisqually entrance. Either right before or just within the entrance.

      I'm driving a 2010 Jeep Patriot - beige/gold.

Do you want to meet at the Paradise Inn, or the Nisqually entrance?

I will meet you at the Nisqually entrance. See you there!

    Not liking the weather forecast.

    August 9, 2013

    • Marty M.

The weather forecast shows possible thunderstorms for the hike. But the mountain's weather is unpredictable. I'm just hoping for a clear view for Panorama point! If, when we get there, the weather is bad, we'll decide what we want to do.

There are a few shady hills with snow on the descent.. nothing dangerous.. just wished I had gloves for my hands. .. they get mushy in the afternoon sun... if you have something to slide down its a lot more fun! Enjoy :)

Anyone joining from Eastside - Bellevue/ Kirkland area? If so, can you swing by at Kingsgate Park&Ride and pick me up? Will share the gas. I'd love to join but the bus doesn't run early on weekends.

Looking to catch a ride with anyone from either the West Seattle or downtown Seattle area; anyone coming my way? Cheers! And yes, if I go Mark, I'd be up for a picnic afterwards!

Would any others like to do a picnic potluck after the hike. There are picnic areas basically right there. I would bring some potato salad.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
