Las Vegas - Red Rock Canyon hiking and Mount Charleston: March 22nd-26th, 2014

Update:  As of March 5th, we still have one spot available.

We have this event cross posted with our other hiking group so please place your name on the waiting list and we will get a group of 8 together.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU RSVP.  IF YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR NAME ON THE RSVP LIST THAT MEANS YOU ARE READY TO COMMIT TO THOSE DATES AND PAY FOR YOUR SHARE OF THE RENTAL HOUSE.  WE SPENT SEVERAL DAYS AT THE RED ROCK CANYON TWO YEARS AGO AND IT WAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL AREA THAT WE WANT TO GO BACK.  AVERAGE TEMPERATURES FOR THE END OF MARCH - 60-70 FOR THE AFTERNOON AND 40'S FOR THE MORNING LOW.

DETAILS: There are many different trails in the Red Rock Canyon - both with small elevation gain and others with a bit larger gain - so you can pick and choose what you want to do.  We are renting a house near the Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas.  The house will be approximatley 20 minutes from the park.  It has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.  We plan on hiking the beautiful Red Rock Canyon and if conditions are good we will attempt a one day climb of Mount Charleston.  You can share the rental house and plan your own daily fun or come with us for our day hikes and we will share our rental car.  No pressure at all  - choose your own fun!  Some people may want to hike, others rock climb or maybe just enjoy Las Vegas.  Would be good to buddy up with someone to share a rental car if possible.

COST: You must arrange your own airfare at your cost.  If you want your own rental car you must arrange and pay for that yourself.  The rental house will be split between the group.  If we get a group of 8, the house will cost approximately $150 total per person for the entire stay (4 nights).  The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.  Here is the link to our rental house:  http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p3002216

Great Trip, Thought everything went smooth as Greg mentioned, We all had a good time together and we also were free to do things on our own, the trip was a total success, I would also highly recommend Tanna and Woody on any future trips that they would plan.

Great trip! Thanks to Tanna and Woody for organizing and coordinating a smoothly executed adventure! They managed expectations and communicated well pre-trip to make sure all participants were on the same page. I would highly recommend a trip in the future with Woody and Tanna!

My Husband and I would like to attend, It only says one attending? It didn't ask me how many like usual I l would like to reserve it for 2, if you could let me know ASAP if we are on the list and off the waiting list I would appreciate it, so I could get everything worked out and get our plane tickets. I am so excited, have hiked Bryce and Zion before and it is so beautiful over there.

I am interested. I have family in Las Vegas and used to live at Mount Charleston. There can be a LOT (12 + feet of snow) at Mt. Charleston in March. Depends on the winter. I think I am interested but I have to look at my work schedule.

Yes, we are aware of the possible snow conditions on Mt Charleston. We have a co-hiker in the Vegas group that will be updating conditions for us right before we get there, so we will know if we are going to bring our ice axes and crampons.
