Update 010113: Nine people - including Olympia Scramblers, Olympia Hikers and folks who belong to both groups - are confirmed for Saturday.
Please change your RSVP to NO if you will be unable to come or edit your YES to add a guest if you want to bring a friend.
We will finalize carpools at the Park & Ride. Everyone will have a ride if they are not a driver. Please post a comment or email me if you are willing to drive and be reimbursed for mileage.
A reminder about weather: you just never know until it happens, so please bring extra clothes for unexpected cold or wind - especially at the top.
Trail: Views will be great if the skies are clear for this 10 mile round trip with 3000 feet elevation gain up a trail often groomed for cross country skiers. If the weather forecast is really bad or roads are closed, then we will change where we go rather than reschedule.
Gear: In addition to the 10 essentials, bring snowshoes, trekking poles, and the ability to stay warm and dry if we stop or slow down. It is likely to be windy on top! This is a great chance to check out our winter gear on a reasonably long moderately challenging trail.
Carpool: We will carpool from the Martin Way Park & Ride to the trailhead. We leave on time and do not wait. However you can call me at[masked] if you are briefly delayed or need last minute directions. Please bring money to reimburse drivers.
Passes: Each car (not each passenger) will need a Sno-Park pass.
Cross-Post: This meetup has been been posted with both the Olympia Hiking Meetup group and the Olympia Scramblers. Please only RSVP once if you hike/snowshoe/scramble with both groups.
Disclaimer: We will be in the wilderness. Serious injury or death can occur. I am not a professional guide, by attending this hike you are assuming responsibility for your own personal safety and I can not be held responsible.
