This event is subject to weather, if it's too cold or rain is expected it will be rescheduled.

Canoeing/kayaking/camping on the Suwannee River. The Outpost will shuttle us to the put-in at White Springs. Rentals are available at the Outpost, both canoes and kayaks. See link to the Outpost (below) for fees. Call to reserve your own rentals, phone number is on their website.

Two full days of paddling with the current, approximately 11 miles each day, Friday and Sunday.  Saturday is a rest day for hiking on the Florida Trail or just hanging out at the campsite on the sandy river bank. You can fish, swim, or relax. Total paddle is 22 miles. The Woods Ferry River Camp can be reserved for those who are uncomfortable camping on the river, and it's free. We have reservations for the group, if needed. End destination is back at the Outpost where your car was left. Total paddle is 22 miles.

It's a beautiful trip on a more remote section of the Suwannee and the Florida Trail follows the river!  It's well worth it and a great experience!

Here's a link to their website:  Suwannee Outpost

Bill. Larry, I enjoyed the choice renting inside the screen rooms with electric, ceiling fan, two inside corner bench tables. Clean bathrooms with
Hot showers. Nice after being in the icy Suwannee river. The riverside hosts, Murry & his wife invited us for wine, a large fire and fellowship. May meet up with them , hosting Hillsborough campground
in November. Great time, will do this again. Beautiful paddle Jerry, Hugh, and Vicky.

Great weather, really good company, (thanks for the ride Hugh!) Perfect fire and campsite, (thanks Jerry!). The hike on the Florida Trail to Disappearing Creek was beautiful. I can't wait to do it all again. You all are awesome kayak campers.

Still going. Showers are predicted for after noon on Sunday. River moving fast - we will travel farther on Friday so we can pack up early and get out Sunday morning. Bring your rain gear.

Hi all, looking forward to the paddle and meeting new friends. What kind of facilities are at the campsite, if any?

I always bring water primitive camping, usually in gallon jugs stored behind my pedals. I carry a water purifier (and something to store water) as a backup. Sometimes I carry frozen water to keep any food cold..then drink it near end of trip. I try to take some electrolyte drink too. If higher river water levels, some of the normal camping beaches may be underwater. The organizers can give you better info. I'm not sure where you will camp.

Hi everybody. I just joined the group because I'm looking for something fun to do outside. I would like to go on this trip but the only time I've ever been in anything like a Kayak was a peiro (spelling ??.... Canoe...) when our neighborhood flooded in LA. Scuba Diving, snorkeling.... yes.... Kayak.... no. Soooo I'm not sure how much stuff can go in the kayak with you. Are you bringing your camping gear and food in the kayak or are you having the outfitters take it to camp. I've just never looked at a kayak that close. What are you all taking with you?

Hi Deborah. Welcome to the group. This trip depends on the weather. If it's too cold or rainy, it will be moved to March. You can take a canoe if you wish, it's just that a lot of us have our own kayaks. You may rent either from the outpost. You will need to pack and bring everything with you, food, sleeping bags, etc. I will be having a pre-event meeting on Jan. 26th if the trip is still on (good weather). This meeting will help you learn what to bring and how to pack it. Be aware that it is two full days of paddling, all day Friday & all day Sunday for a total of 22 miles. There are plenty of places to stop along the way to eat lunch or stretch your legs.

    January 6, 2014

    • Vicki

Hi Jen. No, we will be putting in past Big Shoals at White Springs. Camping will be halfway between White Springs and The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park/Outpost.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
