For all of you who may wish to travel up to the GSMNP and see the Fall foliage, here is the outing for you! This event is being hosted by me and The Great Smokies Hiking & Adventure Group and all are welcome to attend. You will be responsible for your own transportation and camping gear to this event. A very detailed map and set of directions can be provided to you if you choose to make this journey.
Last year we had a pretty good group go up for this annual event and not a single person got lost or eaten by a bear!
Contact Emory or Steven if you have questions or you need more info.
It only happens once a year...The Fall Campout!
We've been to Elkmont and we've gone into Cades Cove, this year we are going to go to the other side of the hill and explore the Smokemont campground for this great seasonal event. Nestled in a great little valley covered with trees this campground should be another wonderful place to take in the changing leaves and cooler temps of the Fall Season.
The changing of the leaves always brings in some of the highest visitor numbers to the Park and this year will be no different. You must call in and reserve your site as soon as the reservation window opens to ensure your spot in the campground. Reservation can be made 6 months out , The 6 month reservation window for this event starts on April 19th.
Every campground in the Park will be full, every hotel room booked. You don't want to left out. Reserve your spot!
Chilly days and even cooler nights will make for excellent camping weather. Campfires, food, coffee, blueberry pancakes, friends, hikes. There will be goodies for your eyes, feet and tummies. What more could you ask for in a weekend?
RSVP to the event now and when the window opens and you get your site reserved, list your site number in the RSVP comment section or send your site number to Dale so that he can make up the map to locate everyone.
This has turned into our big yearly event and if you haven't met everyone yet this will be the weekend to see more members in one place then we have all year. Clean up your gear, clean the cooler, pack up the car and travel over the hill to the North Carolina side of the Park!
We will start filling up the campground in the A section and working our way back as far as we may need.
We always have something fun up our sleeves for you and I am thinking up more stuff for this years event.
