Bear Creek Redwoods exploratory hike

Bear Creek Redwoods Preserve is accessible by permit only  which we have  obtained.   People will offer gas money and we may  need five  cars at Pasatiempo.     Carpooling is  from Pasatiempo Park and Ride which is right off the Pasatiempo exit on the Southbound side of 17.    The preserve is located near the Bear Creek exit past the summit.  Start time 10:30.   The preserve includes Redwoods, Bay Laurel, and big leaf Maple,  ponds  as well as curious abandoned buildings.   There are 14  miles of possible hiking but probably it will be  more like 8 miles. The hike is exploratory but we need to stay together with our permit.  We'll find a place to have lunch. Thanks for helping make this happen.

Thanks Rene for leading a fun group of adventurous lost hikers. Loved the GPS map of our schizophrenic route! Nobody I'd rather get lost following!!

OK, people, what was the name of the movie about 3 hikers that was mentioned on this hike? Single word title. Tip of my tongue. Help!

I just found out some friends/house guests are coming in from out of town much earlier than expected. Unfortunately that rules out this hike for me. Too bad!

Rene, I really appreciate the new map. It is way better than the other one. I am now DEVASTATED because I will not be able to make it:( I truly hope I can make your next outing. Sorry, I have too much on my plate.

I look forward to going tomorrow! Do you have the 5 cars that are needed yet? If so, I would just walk to Pasatiempo.

Hello Ty, I looked at the map for the meeting place and it just did not look familiar to me. Can I meet you somewhere so we can ride together, please?

Pasatiempo Exit is the first exit going north on 17 from Santa Cruz (Exit 1). After exiting turn left over the highway and then turn left again. Right there is the Park and Ride.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
