Breakfast at Davenport Roadhouse/No dogs, they aren't allowed at Waddell

  • Davenport Roadhouse

Let's have breakfast and then go up to Waddell and walk in to Woods at Rancho Del Oso, the Water side of Big Basin as far as we have energy for. It will be a slow hike, I am very out of shape, if you want a fast hike go with a different group, and you must stay with the group, tell me if you have to leave, leave with another person, call my work voice mail when you get home and tell me you got home safely at[masked]-1700. Bring raingear, water, hats, sunglasses we hope. We'll go for the walk/hike after the breakfast. Bring $1 in ones for the organizer, and cash for your own breakfast. No one leaves until the bill is paid. Be prepared to pay for your food and drink, plus 25% for tax and tip.

Hope you can join us. It will be nice to get together again. I've missed you all.

Lauren

I'm not up for a 12-miler either, especially if it's raining. Four miles sounds great to me. I think the idea is to not overdo it, all stick together and have some fun.

Thanks for letting me know Luis. 12 miles is way too far for me. I'm a 4-6 mile person.

It's been a while since I've been up there but I think if you wanted to hike all the way to Berry Creek Falls, there would be a gradual elevation gain to about 400' over a distance of 6 miles. That would make for a 12 mile round-trip.

Hi Donna: thanks for your comment. I do not know. It may be raining quite profusely. After breakfast we will see if people feel prepared for whatever the weather conditions are and then we will go to the trailhead if people want to and then we will start walking and stop when we are tired or too wet to continue. If you want to look it up on line you might be able to find the elevation gain of that part of the park - it is a gradual slope upward on the way in - good for beginners.
