Ignore the map.
Folks I have done this trip the last four years. It's an easy backpack of about three miles into a beautiful meadow at the peak of the wildflower season in there. We hike in on Friday (you can come in Saturday morning if you want). We camp on a low ridge on the left just above the meadow. (We watched an elk walk through it two years ago). On Saturday we dayhike around and visit some of the old homesteads in there. And we hike back out on Sunday.
The trailhead is just this side of Estes Park on US 36.
I'll provide more details later.
Show up and you get half of your deposit back. Once the trip fills up if you back out after May 1 you do not get your deposit back.
