Barr Lake St. Park
Folks we are going to go up and do a dayhike around (maybe part way) Barr Lake. Because the lake is filling up and there should be plenty of waterfowl (some migrating) in the lake. The Southern half of this lake is a wildlife preserve and it usually has lots of birds in it including nesting Eagles.
Directions to the PnR:
From I-25 and 84th Ave exit 219, head east on 84th Ave to Grant St, turn left on Grant, continue north to park-n-Ride on west side of Grant. Plan on leaving from this park-n-ride at 8:15. Will the first person to arrive here please put your pack on your hood so others can find you.
Directions to Barr Lake: From Denver take I-76 northeast 20 miles to Bromley Lane. Go East to Picadilly Road. Turn right and drive South to the park entrance. There is a $7 entrance fee/car if you don't have a pass.
The hike: This 'hike' is a pretty much level 'hike' around Barr Lake. The surface does change from a dirt road to a cinder hike by the railroad, some sand and dirt back to the visitor's center. You can go all the way around if you want (ten miles) or do the out and back (about six miles) through the bird sanchuary.
You can bring your dog.
