Dayhike Threemile Creek trail

Ignore the map. The trailhead is not at the address listed.

I do not charge for my hikes but I do accept donations to help cover my overhead. Thank you

This is a limited number hike so if you sign up then show up. And don't back out on Saturday night!!!!

Wadsworth

Directions to the Wadsworth and Hampden park-n-ride:From Wadsworth Blvd. & Hampden, continue south on Wadsworth Blvd. to W. Jefferson Ave. Right on W. Jefferson Ave., into park-n-Ride. If you are going West on 285 (Hampden) take the Wadsworth exit. Turn left at the stoplight. Go one block and turn right. The PnR will be on your right. We will leave from the park-n-ride at 7:45 am.

Directions to the trailhead: On U.S. 285 enter the foothills Southwest of Denver. Drive another 40 miles to Grant. It's a ways past Bailey. Turn right onto Guanella Pass Road. Go 2.9 miles and the trailhead will be on your right. Please carpool. The parking lot is small.

The hike: This is an easy hike for a ways. It follows a creek which you have to cross a few times and some of the crossings are difficult. If you have treking poles you might want to bring them. The trail is easy for about three miles and then it gets down to business climbing up above tree line and over to intersect with the Rosalie trail. We'll go as far as the group wants to go.

A not too crowded shaded trail in good condition along a clear cool mountain stream

Excellent choice Scott! I've always hiked farther up the road, but this area seems to be fantastic at every turn (got back to vehicles in the spring to have 7 goats liking the salt off of them).

9AM, 60 degrees, skies clear, parking lot full. Hiked up, take in the scenery pace, Three Mile Creek trail, interesting rock outcropping near start. Trail stunk of Columbines and other flowers. Group hiked to the first park, skies threaten and headed back down the trail before the rain set in. I hiked trail past Spearhead Mountain cut west across the meadow to the saddle and bushwhacked back down south side of Spearhead to the trail, nice outcroppings, the terrain was difficult in places. Heavy rain for last mile. Rain suite kept out the heavy downpour, perspiration in. Boots soaked through to the rag socks and liners venting water out as easily as they vented water in, not uncomfortable. Day pack did not keep contents dry, everything that was not in zip lock bags was damp. Back at the trail head by 3PM, temperature 55, TD 6.5 miles, 2,000 ft. Do over, start hour earlier, bushwhack to Spearhead peak and back to trail.

Beautiful hike and definitely took to time to smell the roses. Now that bill uploaded his photos, he's forcing my hand... :)

Really liked this trail. Colorful wildflowers and the sound of the running stream made for a relaxing experience. Good pick, Scott.

One of the most picturesque hikes that follows a creek w/13 water crossings. Perfect weather. Met old & new hikers. Thanks Scott!

My first hike with this group. I would like to carpool with someone from the PnR at Wads and 285.

Glad to carpool with you, Deborah & Topher (I can take 3 to 4 total depending on gear). I must be back in East Denver at 2:30pm though. I'm expected to bring gear to my drum circle. Can't believe that is a problem, unless we have split notions on going to lunch after. See you at Wads PnR.

Great would love to catch a ride with you, particularly because you have a time that you need to get back. I have to go to the airport in the afternoon so your timing is great.

I will leave from the Mountain View PnR at 8:00. It is the PnR on the north side of US285 immediately east of Richmond Hill Rd exit. I can either ride or drive carrying three passengers. BTW I was in the area of Sunday's hike on Saturday morning and saw lots of wildflowers.

Carpool from Conifer? I am in the foothills and could meet someone in the Conifer area, or perhaps follow others at that point. I am planning on driving at this point. Thx!
