Folks we are going to try this again. If it rains this time I'm going to hold my next full moon hike indoors.
Our full moon hike and social hour is going to be held on Saturday night August the 9th at Hidden Mesa near Franktown.
We have a special use permit from Douglas County that lets us do this. We can have beer and wine. Also bring finger food to share and a camp chair if you like.
The hike is an out and back, four miles total. There is a short climb up onto the mesa. After that it's pretty much level. The hike will start at 7:30. That will give us time to get up onto the mesa in time to see the sun set in the West. And on our way around the loop we'll get to see the moon rise in the East.
There is a flood light, a pavilion with picnic tables and a bathroom.
There are two ways to get there. You can go down Parker Road (US83). The trailhead will be on your right just before you get to Franktown. If you get to the Franktown stop light you have gone too far.
Or you can go South on I-25 and take exit 184. Turn left. That will put you onto Founders Pky. Stay on that until you get to the stop light at rout 86. Turn left. Go until you get to the stop light in Franktown. Turn left. That trailhead is on the left 1.4 miles North of Franktown on US83.
There is a non-refundable charge of $5 for this outing.
