Backpack the Grand Tetons and visit Yellowstone

That is my address. I'll update that later.

Folks we're going to backpack five days around the Grand Tetons. We're going to start at the Tagert Lake trailhead and go around them clockwise.

Then we're going to spend a couple of days looking around Yellowstone Nat. Park.

The dates for this trip are 9/3 to 9/10.

Like we do for the Grand Canyon we'll rent two six-passenger vans.

This trip will cost your around $500.

If you have to back out I'll refund your deposit until after July 1st. After that no.

Great views and hiking while circling the Grand Tetons. Beautiful country! The weather was great for being in the backcountry (except for the sleet on Hurricane Pass). We crossed paths with a few bears, and some deer were interested in us and our camp one night. It was nice meeting & backpacking with everybody. Thanks Rob for driving and thanks Scott for organizing.

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to follow up after our dinner meeting last week. As you know, I was hedging a bit about whether I would still be going. I've decided I will be, but am going to drive myself so I can return Sunday for work on Monday.

I also wanted share a tip I heard that night, I think from Gary, about using 'seal a meal' bags to cook meals in with boiling dishes! I looked around and couldn't find them but found a substitute that seems to work - at least didn't melt when I put boiling water in it - Ziploc Sip'n Steam bags. Ten quart size bags for about $3 - such a deal! So, I"m working on putting together my dinners in advance - couscous+protein+freeze dried veggies+ seasoning!

I'm still a little nervous about the first two days, but know that I can do it...I just may be slower than the rest. I did get my footwear issue resolved though and that was my main worry.

    Looking forward to next week!

Scott, I know that I am late in the game but the timing is great for me to go on this trip. I want to know a little more about the itinerary. Is the group backpacking around the Tetons or car camping while doing day hikes?

Hi Becky, I know Scott was out of town for a long weekend, so don't know when you'll hear back. We will be backpacking around the Tetons over five days (Tues-Sat). We'll leave from Taggart lake and go south/clockwise, returning down Cascade Canyon to Jenny lake then back to Taggart lake. The group will then take a couple of days through Yellowstone on the return trip. We leave Denver Monday 9/3 and return end of day Monday 9/10. Folks are car pooling. I plan to drive separately because I am skipping the Yellowstone leg and returning to Denver Sunday. I'm looking for someone to ride with me if that schedule interests you. Hope you can join us!

ENJOY one of the great adventures in two of the finest parks in the world, folks! Life is short~gotta see some of it before you can't anymore. You are fortunate to go, indeed!

Hi all; At this point I'm not sure that I can go on the trip after all. It depends on a job that I might have by then. I will know in a day or 2. :-(

Scott - it looks like there are currently 7 confirmed attendees and I wondered what you are thinking now about van rental. If you want to just get one 6 person van, I wonder if any of the other attendees would like to car pool with me and skip the two days in Yellowstone?

@ Liz - I am definitely not hard core and I'm going; I think 'reasonable shape' should be no problem, but definitely see what Scott thinks. Hope you'll join us!

Hey Scott - I just saw your Jan. 12th email saying you got the group site for 12 people. Does that mean the rest of us are "in"...? Hope so!

I too am very interested if space becomes available. I'll be in the Teons this July, but September sounds wonderful!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
