Longs Peak-Keyhole Route

  • August 18, 2012 · 9:00 AM

We will meet up at 9:00 AM at 88th and Sheridan PNR, PARKING LOT side.

We will hike to the boulderfield, set up camp and enjoy the sunset. Wake up early to my *glorious* voice singing to you, to start our early morning Sunday summit.

I have turned around at keyhole due to weather(August) and that is where the hard part actually starts!!! I had a successful summit last year on Labor Day but there were 300 on "trail".

Long's is part hike and part climb.  It's a Class 3 14er which means there is a good technical section.

  • Trailhead: 9,400
  • Summit: 14,255
  • RT Length: 14 miles
  • Trail all the way to summit: No aka Class three technical climb.
  • Class three: Scrambling or un-roped climbing.  You must use your hands most of the time to hold the terrain or find your route.  This may be caused by a combination of steepness and extreme terrain (large rocks or steep snow).  Some Class 3 routes are better done with rope.
  • Required checklist-Will be sent in a personal email to you.
  • Your sense of adventure.

In order to go on this trip. You will have to complete a 14er/13er with me. More kimmy time!

Questions?!?!??! CALL ME

I have a backcountry pass cost that I will be sharing with you, $5 each person. We will also be renting bear canisters which is $3. Whomever comes, I would be willing to make dinner for everyone and sharing that minimal cost with you.

PS. With all that time, we will do Chasm Lake too before make it to the Boulderfied-FYI.

Nothing about this trip could have possibly gone better. Kimmy put together a great plan, we had a very capable group, and the weather was perfect. Thanks.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
