Announcing a new Meetup for Weekend Hikers...Plus!

What: Dayhike Castlewood Canyon State Park

When: Saturday, October 9,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Castlewood Canyon State Park
2989 S Hwy 83
Franktown, CO 80116
(303)[masked]

We're going down here because there are scrub oak trees down here so you get some of the oranges and reds you have in the hardwood forests back East.

We'll carpool from the Hidden Mesa parking lot to save on entrance fees.

Directions to the parking lot: Go South on Parker road almost to Franktown. The Hidden Mesa parking lot is on your right about one mile before you get to Franktown. Look for a wooden arch to drive under. We'll plan on leaving this parking lot at 9:45. The park entrance is just about a mile West down CO 86 from Franktown.

Directions to the West entrance trailhead: (This is NOT the main entrance on Parker Road) Go to Franktown on Parker Road (CO 83). Turn right onto CO 86 at the intersection at Franktown. Go about a mile and turn left onto Castlewood Canyon Road. The parking lot is on your left about two miles up the road just past the self-registration station.

From I- 25: Take the second Castle Rock exit and turn left. In town turn left onto CO 86 and go about five miles where you will turn right onto Castlewood Canyon Road. The parking lot is on your left about two miles up the road just past the self-registration station.

The hike: We're going to do the Creek Bottom- Rim Rock Trail loop. There is one very, very short climb on this hike and great views from the Rim Rock Trail.

Rover is allowed on this hike.
