Announcing a new Meetup for Weekend Hikers...Plus!

What: Snowshoe Brainard Lake (hopefully)

When: Friday, November 26,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Resource Analysis Systems
2917 Eagle Drive
Fort Collins, CO 80526

We're going to snowshoe Brainard Lake and there abouts. I'm told there are two feet of snow up there now (11/14) If there's not enough snow we'll hike it.

Dry Creek Station
Directions to the Dry Creek park-n-ride: From I-25 and E Dry Creek Rd., head west on E Dry Creek Rd to the light at S Chester St. Be in the far left lane. Make a u-turn at the light. Now heading east get into the far right lane. In maybe 100 yards the lane vears off for a right hand turn. Now take the left lane that turns up into the park-n-ride. We?ll leave from this park-n-ride at 8:30. Please be on time!!!!

If anyone wants to take charge of a Northern park-n-ride let me know and I'll put your information in here. Don't just put a comment- I'm leaving from Broomfield if anybody wants to carpool- that does not help. I'd like for someone to select a Northern pnr and let me know.

Directions:
Take Highway 72 north from Nederland, approximately eight miles to Ward. Turn west on Forest Road 112 and travel about three miles to the Brainard Lake Recreation area (there is an entrance fee). The lake is two miles farther in the center of the recreation area, just outside of the eastern boundary of the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

If the gate is closed park and we'll start from there. If the gate is open drive on in and take the right fork. You'll see us parking.

The snowshoe: This will be a easy beginners outing. If you have never done this rent some shoes and poles and join us. You'll learn that you can enjoy the ourdoors in the winter and not freeze to death.
