Folks we have been hanging around Boulder the past few weeks so I'm going to invite youall back down South.

We can drop off some cars in the parking lot just North of the Stagecoach Resturaunt. There is a brick factory there. We'll meet there at 9:45. The Stagecoach is located just North of the stoplight in Franktown on Hwy 83.

Directions to the park:

To reach the main entrance of Castlewood Canyon State Park, take I-25 to Castle Rock, exit onto Founders Parkway eastbound. Take Founders Parkway to Hwy 86, go east on Hwy 86 four miles to Franktown. Turn South on Hwy 83 (S. Parker Rd) and go five miles south to the main park entrance.

The hike: East Canyon Preservation Trail: 4 miles, moderate
Permitted uses: Foot only
Miles paved: 0
Miles non-paved: 4 Total distance: 4
Usage: Light
Degree of difficulty: Moderate Elevation: 6600
ADA accessible: No
Comments: In order to protect the delicate nature of this area visitors are required to remain on the trail at all times. Climbing prohibited. Regulations strictly enforced.
Pets: No, the East Canyon is home to several species of rare flora and fauna that can be easily disturbed by pets.
