Announcing a new Meetup for Weekend Hikers...Plus!

What: A different kind of Sunday hike...or...let's get high. (Coon Hill)
When: Sunday, July 31,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Arapaho National Forest
101 Chicago Creek Road
Idaho Springs , CO 80452

I don't charge for my hikes but I do take contributions to help cover my overhead.

The address is not the trailhead. It's the Forest Service Office.

This hike is a little different from most of our Sunday hikes. It's a little further out and it's a bit higher. The hike starts at over 12,000 feet and goes up to just under 13,000. It's about four miles out and back. Each hiker can go up as far as they want until they gain the ridge. The wildflowers are the most abundent I have ever seen. Plus you get to cross a couple of fun snow fields.

  Ward Road

Address: 4655 Ward Rd., Wheat Ridge

Directions to the park-n-ride: From 44th Ave. & Ward Rd., continue north on Ward Rd. approximately .22 miles, left into the park-n-Ride. We will plan on leaving this park-n-ride at 8:45 am.

Directions to the trailhead: Go West on I-70 until you get to the Eisenhower tunnel. After you drive through the tunnel and come out on the West end of it the trailhead parking lot is on the right. There are signs marking it.

Don't forget to bring a rain coat.

Lunch will be at that BBQ place in Idaho Springs. The food there is really good.

Check it out!
