Subject: [hiking-351] Waiting List-FYI

Waiting list:

On each hike, Meetup gives the organizer three options for a wait list.

  • No wait list
  • Manual wait list
  • Automatic wait list

Sometimes, I use the manual option. When I do that: if someone on the YES list changes their RSVP to NO, a  spot opens up. It will send an email out announcing an opening.  So historically, people have signed up and been able to jump ahead of everyone on the wait list, which is not fair. Subsequently, I will change your RSVP to waiting list and you will now be at the bottom of the wait list.  I have emailed Meetup repeatedly but it doesn’t look like it is going to change. So I wanted everyone to know about this.

If you sign up for a hike when that happens, I will not allow you to be on the hike, only in the name of fairness.

If you have any questions, call Meetup.
