Announcing a new Meetup for The Longmont Hiking Meetup Group!

What: Betasso Preserve - Canyon Loop Trail - Family Friendly/Beginner Hike

When: Sunday, April 18,[masked]:00 PM

Folsom Coffee
1795 Folsom st.
Boulder, CO 80302

Let's meet at 1pm at Folsom Coffee at the corner of Canyon and Folsom in Boulder. We will head from there up Boulder Canyon to a Right on Sugarloaf Rd and go .8 miles. Then turn right at the sign for the Betasso Filtration Plant and go another half mile to where the road forks. Turn left at the fork to the East Trailhead.

This hike starts at an elevation of 6,480 ft and is approx 3.2 miles round trip. It sounds like a pretty hike through ponderosa and douglas pines with a view of the plains. We will cross over a seasonal stream, then the trail climbs back through a forest into grassy meadows and come onto a old fire road. We will also go past the 1922 homestead of Ronald McDonald where he planted an orchard of plum trees. This trail sounds interesting and pretty.

Hope to see you there.....
