Marin Headlands Coastal Walk: Rodeo Beach, Tennessee Beach, Muir Beach

Meet Rodeo Beach for a 9:00 DEPARTURE for a brisk paced, 15ish mile hike

I'm still working out the route, but we'll go to Tennessee Beach and Muir Beach.  The mileage may turn out to be a bit longer than 15.  I'm out of town, and won't have access to my maps to finalize the route until I return home on Friday evening.

As always, all are welcome, but please be prepared for the pace, distance, and climbing.

Standard fine print on my fast paced hikes: We stop for lunch, and take another break or two. We regroup at trail junctions, but take few rest stops. If you like to take frequent breaks, or if you need to stop and rest on climbs, these hikes aren't for you. On the other hand, if you like hiking lots of hilly miles at a brisk pace, while taking in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, please join us. If you aren’t sure you can keep up, but want to try it, please email me to discuss. If you do come, out of courtesy to the rest of the group, please bring a map, and volunteer to take a short cut if you find are struggling to keep up.

Just mapped out the route. Unless anyone objects, I suggest we do the 17 mile version.
Rodeo Beach, Bunker Rd & Coastal to Tenn Vly, to beach & up bluff, Coastal to Muir Beach, Redwood Creek, Miwok & alternative Miwoks to Tenn Vly, back to beach & up hillside to Coastal, to Rodeo Beach.
The 15 mile route takes Dias Ridge rather than Redwood Creek and Miwok.

The "official" route will be off trail in a couple of places. Consider wearing long pants if you are highly allergic to poison oak. Alternatively, you can take boring fire roads and bypass those sections.

There doesn't seem to be anyone driving from SF and I can't drive my own car so I'll have to pass on tomorrow's hike. Sorry. Maybe I can join the next hike.

I didn't see a comment asking about carpooling.

About how many hours does it take for the group to hike 15 miles?

    • Ralph

      I'd guess 6 - 6 1/2. It all depends on the group,
