Pt. Reyes: Five Brooks -> Alamere Falls, 15ish miles, brisk paced

  • Five Brooks Trail Head Pt. Reyes National Seashore

Meet at the Five Brooks trailhead in Pt. Reyes for a 9:00 DEPARTURE for a brisk paced, 15ish mile hike.

The route still being finalized, but the plan is to go to Wildcat Camp, and walk the beach to Alamere Falls.Hopefully, the recent rains will have the falls flowing, but not leave the trails too muddy.

Note: we will DEPART at 9:00.

The current forecast is for clouds.  I'll reschedule if the forecast changes to steady rain.

Note: The last time I was there, the trail from the beach at Alamere Falls was a bit of a scramble, and had some poison oak.

As always, all are welcome, but please be prepared for the pace, distance and climbing.

Fine print on my fast paced hikes: Our pace while moving usually averages around 2 3/4 mph. We stop for lunch, and usually take another short break or two. We regroup at trail junctions, but take few rest stops. If you like to take frequent breaks, or if you need to stop and rest on climbs, these hikes probably aren't for you. On the other hand, if you like hiking lots of hilly miles at a brisk pace, while taking in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, please join us. If you aren’t sure you can keep up, but want to try it, please do. We won't abandon you. But, out of courtesy to the rest of the group, please bring a map, and volunteer to take a short cut if you find are struggling to keep up.

What a great day! I'm a bit glowy over it all (and sore, too, but let's not go there). So lovely to meet all of you. Thank you, Ralph. Hope to see you all soon.

Very sorry. I can't make it after all due to some work that came up. Thanks for your earlier answers and hope to make another hike one of these days.

Does someone have the address that I should put in my GPS to arrive at the starting location? I haven't been able to figure it out? Also, just how intense are the inclines on this hike? Many thanks.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
