Rainy day hike starting from Muir Woods

Meet at Muir Woods for a 9:00 DEPARTURE for a brisk paced hike.  The route and distance will depend on the weather.  Expect 15ish miles if it doesn't rain too much. Earlier return if it does.  The current forecast has a 70% chance of rain.

Meet just inside the main entrance by the visitors' center.  Entry is free before 9:00.

Potential Routes:

Steady rain: Bootjack: wander about the south side of Mt. Tam, staying under tree cover, lunch by the fire at West Point Inn.

Threatening to rain: lunch at Stinson Beach, either in the gazebo or by the stove in a restaurant.  Bring $ just in case you want to purchase lunch.

Rain drops out of the forecast: up and over Mt. Tam, lunch at Lake Lagunitas.

As always, all are welcome, but please be prepared for the RAIN, pace, distance, and climbing.

Standard fine print on my fast paced hikes: We stop for lunch, and take another break or two. We regroup at trail junctions, but take few rest stops. If you like to take frequent breaks, or if you need to stop and rest on climbs, these hikes aren't for you. On the other hand, if you like hiking lots of hilly miles at a brisk pace, while taking in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, please join us. If you aren’t sure you can keep up, but want to try it, please email me to discuss. If you do come, out of courtesy to the rest of the group, please bring a map, and volunteer to take a short cut if you find are struggling to keep up.

I was there exactly at 9:10am I am sorry that I missed it, I almost started walking but when I went over the hill a bit I saw 3 entrances! Did not want to get lost with pouring rain! so I went to my usual hike around the redwood park, sunny trail and parked on panoramic view, I am so sorry that I missed yet a another great hike with this group. but I got at least 5 miles in .')

i was soaking wet too! I went on a shorter hike that I know, and yes, I understand I was too late :/ next time, I am back on hiking, and I will try to do it as often as I used to.

The rain was expected, and nice, and then let up. Very pleasant route, lots of rushing streams, good company.

Glad to see people are signing up.
I was worried that I was going to have to go to the gym tomorrow.
