Caja del Rio Adventure across from Ancho Rapid

I want to try this again.  I've scouted out the area a little so I know a good way down.

Description:
Caja del Rio Adventure across from Ancho Rapids - Moderate/Strenuous

Round Trip Distance: ~6-8 miles
Round Trip Time: ~5-7 hours
Elevations: 5,460'- 6,500'
Gain: ~1800'
Rating: Moderate?/Strenuous?
Pace: Moderate/Strenuous
Round Trip Drive: 60 miles / 100 mins

We will go to the interesting looking cliff area across from Ancho Rapids on the Santa Fe side. There looks like several ways down to the river. We'll walk along the river, then back up again. There may be a a trails for part, but most likely not for the rest. It looks like no rock scrambling, although we'll be right near rocks if people want to. It will be steep at points, so poles are a good idea. Once we are there, we'll figure out what else looks like fun!

The pace will be a fast moderate or slow strenuous.

NOTE: At this time of year any type of weather is possible. It could:
- rain, hail, snow or be sunny. Be prepared.
- have some good shoes
- snacks, lunch, etc.
- water (always)

Meeting
We will meet at outside tables in the Jave Joes at DeVargas mall. If you are running late or need to cancel at the last minute please call Dave[masked] (cell).

Thanks for sharing, Alan. We were maybe an hour or two away from considering that option together.

But please don't tell me that Dave (or another) carries rubber tubing on our hikes for this emergency purpose. I'm so not there if that's the case!

Thank you Dave for a HUGE (Yikes) adventure and to everyone for their loving support as I navigated my way through places I would never have gone .. or been able to without your encouraging and guiding support. I am a better person today for all we shared. The final photo of the 6 foot rattler calmly sliding away is so perfect in representing (to me, anyway) the danger past!!!

Dave's adventure hikes makes me get out of my comfort zone and push my limits, and in this case, and then some, oh yeah. It is good to know that I can do what I would never conceive of doing and survive. Terrific geology in the canyons, and fun group as always.

I personally had a great time. Definitely an adventure. We found some amazing places, but there was some work involved. Our group was very positive.

Challenging and rewarding. The three surprise guests stole the show and grateful that two allowed their picture to be taken. Thanks Dave for another great adventure!
