Hike Charmlee park

Greetings all my next hike will be to Charmlee Park in Malibu. This park is mostly one big meadow and not much in terms of elevation gain/loss. The hike itself is a 3 mile loop. To get to the  park take the 10 west until it becomes Pacific Coast hwy. Take PCH north until you get to Encinal Canyon Road. Turn right on Encinal Canyon road. If you get to Decker Canyon  Rd you have gone to far. Dogs on a leash are welcome.  Charmlee park is 4.5 miles up this road. Turn right into the entrance way. The entrance has a large sign next to it, it is impossible to miss the sign. I spoke to one of the volunteers there and she noted that the park is in the process of changing ownership. It may be under the control of the Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy  by the time of our hike. That means there may be a parking fee at that time but unlikely enforced. Just in case have about $7 dollars for a parking.  Hope to see you there Norman

Thanks again Norman for organizing a great hike! I really liked Charmlee, not too steep, just right.

Hey, anyone want to carpool from the East SFV - I'm in Sherman Oaks? I can fit 3 people.

Wow, I didn't realize how deep this is into Malibu. It's 33 miles from me in Sherman Oaks. So again, is anyone coming from the Valley and want to carpool? (I'm just not sure I want to drive 70 miles and spend $20 for gas and parking. Much better to split it.)

Hi all! I'm new to hiking in L.A. and come from very flat Florida land. Is this an easy hike for a newby?

It's perfect for a newbie! The inclines are few and very steady. The whole hike is a big loop and should take about 1.5-2 hours. :)

I like the starting time. :-) Even if it's a warm day, we should get a cool breeze from the ocean. I'm hoping I can make it, looks like a great hike!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
