2nd Annual New Years Day Walk

10am Start. 3-4 Miles Up the White Pine Trail to 5th/3rd Ball Park. Return via the spur trail to Comstock Park. Vitales opens at 11am.

We will walk south along Millcreek to NorthPark. East on NorthPark to the Trail Head (just East under 131). Up along the Grand River to the 5/3 Ball Park.  We will then follow the spur trail (to the West of the Ball Park) back to Comstock Park. Vitales opens at 11am.

The trail is open in this section, not much to block the wind. So remember to dress for the second mile. HYOH and kick off the new hiking season.

I did not make it to walk the trail, but I was glad to make it in time to say hi and chat with some of you. I hope this year I will spend more time hiking with you. Thanks, Sharon, for the meatball sandwich. Thanks Penny & Pat for organizing the event. Happy New Year to all of you. (Xin Nian Kuai Le! Happy New year in Chinese)

I like this trail - spikes would have been better for me than trekking poles :) Great way to start the year!

Not to detract from your event but has everyone seen the state sponsored walks that day? http://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/MIDNR/bulletins/9a9a74

The Friends of the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail usually have[masked] people walking to the North from Rockford. That is why we are starting South of them from Comstock Park. Nearest State Snowshoe looks to be Yankee Springs...
