Pigeon Creek Park Cross Country Ski/Snowshoe #2

Meet at the lodge near the fire and either cross country ski, snowshoe, or do both. The groomed cross country trails are separate from the snowshoe trails. The cost is free unless you rent snowshoes or cross country skiis which are available at the lodge. Hiking is not allowed here in the winter. Afterwards to continue the fun we will head to the Main Street Pub in Allendale or another voted upon choice as the Yellow Tail, Embassy and many others nearby are closed on Sundays. For more detail of the trails and to print off a trail map go to www.miottawa.org/parks/pigeon creek.htm.

Sorry to all of you that left Main Street Pub before I got there. I got off the trail at 4:35 PM, put my skis in the back of my Jeep, threw my keys up on the front seat, closed the door to then open the front door and was locked out! The automatic lock on my keys must have hit the seat just right. Therefore, called AAA which didn't cost me, but had to wait an additional hour at the lodge before leaving. I can now recommend the popcorn and French Vanilla Cappuccino at the lodge.

Count me in for the 3rd Pigeon Creek outing! Great people! Marvelous nature! When I get tired of snow shoveling, I think about events like this. Thanks, John, for organizing the event.

If you took any pictures, please download by clicking the upload symbol under the title. My camera was fully charged when I left home. I must have left it on somehow. The pictures I did take with my phone I'm going to see if Verizon can get off my phone and send as it is a "dumb" phone. May take a few days before I can stop by one of their outlets.

I skied at this park yesterday for 3 hours. It was a beautiful "snowglobe" kind of day, with some sun! Very nicely groomed trails with a two track and area wide enough for speed skiers. There is no fee to use the trails, and there's a very nice lodge with a real fireplace to warm up by. I would definitely go again sometime! Enjoy!

I might not make it today. My daughter is in town and we are thinking about heading out to Hoffmaster first thing this morning for a ski before she has to go back to school. Sorry if I missed this event. It is a perfect day to get out in the snow.

As stated in the intoduction...hiking is not allowed here in winter and it is posted as such. Rentals, however, are available for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

The Yellow Tail is closed on Sundays so an alternate place to meet afterwards is the Main Street Pub in Allendale. If anyone has a better suggestion of a place to get a bite to eat/drink OPEN ON SUNDAYS, please let me know.
