After Work Hike - Pickerel Lake Park, Rockford

Join me for a hike after work at Pickerel Lake Park in Rockford. I went out Tuesday 4/2 for a test run to check trail conditions and available daylight.

Trail was still mostly snow covered. May want to bring your Yak Traks. Or hiking boots with good tread and your trekking poles at the very least.

Route I took was 2.75 miles and I completed it in an hour with plenty of day light remaining. The closer we get to June the longer the days.

Felt wonderful to get some fresh air and exercise before heading home after work and I slept so good that night!

We will be on the trail at 6:15pm promptly.

Perfect weather for a hike after work. Thank you so much to my fellow hikers on our inaugural after work hike.

Hi Kelly, is this a hike suitable for low-key hikers (hikers who want to increase their fitness levels, but aren't quite ready for a hard core hike? I.e. I have tendonitis in my left foot...

Pickerel has a couple of hills that will make anyone a little winded. The bigger issue right now is there is still snow on the trails which makes for uneven footing. Not sure what type of motion irritates your foot. You may want to a least wait for the snow to thaw. HOPEFULLY that won't be too much longer.
