Ludington Ridge and Island Trails Day Hike

Varied terrain and beautiful scenic views make this 5.2 mile hike worth doing over and over. This moderate rated hike does have some challenging climbs. Our pace is usually between 2.5 and 3 miles per hour, which is a fairly brisk pace. This is not a beginner hike.

Bring water and snacks to eat at the break at the CCC shelter. The temperature is probably going to be in the 40's, so wear layers of synthetic clothes.

Please meet us at the Lighthouse Trail parking lot.

I took 131 instead of 31 ... so we were late to meet up! We did the trail hoping to meet up with the group but had a great hike anyway! See you next time!

This might be a stupid question but I don't care I am going to ask it anyway..better safe than not.... Does one need a State Park sticker on their vehicle to get into the park or no?

I believe the gate is only manned during open season. But before you get to the gate there is a camper registration office that is probably where you can get a pass/sticker because there is still limited camping at that park.

You can park on the street just outside of the gate to he park for free and walk in. But there is no guarantee that your car would be safe. Thought you might like to know.

The Cedar campground is the only one open; the others are closed.

Does anyone know what the time estimate might be. I have to be back in Muskegon by 3pm.

We usually average 3 miles per hour, so about 2 hours hiking and however long people want to rest at the CCC shelter. My guess would be no more than 3 hours total.

Melody, after passing the entry booth, the Lighthouse Trail parking lot is straight ahead. We'll be there with a GR Meetup sign.

I know where the state park is,but I'm not sure about the light house parking lot.

This sounds like so much fun. While I can't make it to this hike, I'd love to attend one in the future. Do you all ever ride share? My partner & I don't have a car, so getting out of GR proves to be a challenge.

Yes, people often set up carpools.

Nicole, just use this comment area to let people know you would like to carpool and those also interested will respond.
