This outdoor group is geared towards fairly strenuous outdoor activities in which your body provides the principal means of movement. This includes hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, biking, etc. Members should already be in good physical and mental shape, and be ready for a workout. We try to maintain a decent yet enjoyable pace to accommodate photo stops, rest breaks, and "holy cow" views. We are not trying to race to the top, or get there by a certain time. It's enjoying the journey along the way that is important.
There are other meetup groups for beginner or occasional hikers and there are groups that are far more aggressive in their climbs or distance. Our typical hikes are 6 to 15 miles in length and around 1000 to 3500 feet in elevation gain at an intermediate pace. Snowshoe trips are a bit shorter due to shorter daylight, as well as being a bit more strenuous.
If you are interested in becoming an organizer, we'd be very glad you have you on board. It's easier than you may think. Please contact Dave Karle if you have any questions.
A note on photos: please do not upload duplicates or the entire contents of your camera onto the site. Photos of the event are wonderful to view, but the process can become unwieldy if not properly edited.
