Slate Run

One of my favorite MetroParks.  This has a little of everything:  woods, meadows, wetlands. It even has a working 1880's style farm.  This week, let's hike Slate Run!

We'll meet at the Shady Grove Picnic Area at 9 AM.  We will hike about 7 miles of Trails:  The Five Oaks, the Sugar Maple, The Bobolink Grassland Trail, The Bobolink Wetland Trail, then back.   Before we head back to our cars, we will visit the Slate Run Historical Farm.  This is harvest time and there should be a lot of activity.

Directions:  From I-270, take U.S. 33 east toward Lancaster to the Canal Winchester/S.R. 674 exit. Turn right onto Gender Road/S.R. 674 and go about 2 miles until it dead-ends into Lithopolis Road. Turn left and go about 1/2 mile to S.R. 674. Turn right and go about 4 miles to the entrance on the right.

I thought the hike was one of the better ones I've done in the Columbus area.

I might recommend lunch at the historic Marcy Diner after - neat, old place and big menu just past the park entrance.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
