Fast-paced 6 mile afternoon hike at Prairie Oaks

We will meet at the Whispering Oaks Picnic Area.  We will hike a couple of trails for a total of about 6 miles. We probably will do the same trails as we did on Nov the 23rd.

Pace: fast, around[masked] mile/hour.

We will leave 5-10 minutes after the start time so please be on time.

Directions:  Main park entrance (3225 Plain City-Georgesville Road):

From I-270, take I-70 west to Plain City-Georgesville Road/S.R. 142 exit and go north on Route 142 about 0.8 miles. Entrance is on the right. Go in and drive to the Whispering Oaks Picnic Area (which is at the end of the road, approx 0.7 miles).

Had to break in my new hike boots ... did not go so well ... i had to change into plain snow boots after two miles ....overall it was fun ... not too cold ... no wind which makes a difference. Thanks for the pics Dave ... I need a better phone camera or I need to learn how to use it?

My Windows Phone takes nice pictures, but I miss the days of the SLR, and being able to change lenses and filters. However, you can't beat the portability of the smart phone, and you can always fiddle with the picture, like I did with the last one of you crossing the bridge (image filters are fun). Fun hike as usual.

Please make sure you are appropriate dressed for the snow covered paths, the cold, and possibly muddy paths.

    Stelios (and others):

Just came back from the park - I was hoping to cross country ski while there was still some good snow. My adventure wasn't very successful - snow's melting pretty fast and there's mud under the snow. So you should have an exciting (and mushy) walk this afternoon! Enjoy!

Looking forward to enjoying this beautiful day. Not sure I'll do the full six miles, but will be nice to meet the group.

What's the target pace now? 1.5 - 2 mph would be pretty good. Ha ha.

no idea :-) ... we will play it by ear. We will come back to the cars after 2-3 miles to let people who want a shorted hike drop leave.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
