Fast-paced 2/6 mile afternoon hike at Prairie Oaks

We will meet at the Whispering Oaks Picnic Area.  We will hike a couple of trails for a total of about 6 miles. We probably will do the coneflower trail loop which is about 2.2 miles, then we are back to our cars for the 2-mile (2.2 miles) hikers. We then will redo the small loop of the coneflower trail and will continue on an anticlockwise loop using on the Darby Creek greenway trail/Lakeview trails/River rock trail which should be about 3.6 miles. I will give a test after the hike on which trails we went :-).

Pace: fast, around[masked] mile/hour.

We will leave 5-10 minutes after the start time so please be on time.

Directions:  Main park entrance (3225 Plain City-Georgesville Road):

From I-270, take I-70 west to Plain City-Georgesville Road/S.R. 142 exit and go north on Route 142 about 0.8 miles. Entrance is on the right. Go in and drive to the Whispering Oaks Picnic Area (which is at the end of the road, approx 0.7 miles).

We had a good time even if though we got a bit wet from both the rain and also the flooded paths .... we ended up with probably 4.5 miles.

Bummer ... I just looked at radar map and it looks like Prairie Oaks will be rain-free for the next few hours ... should have checked the map earlier ..

I like rain, but what I'm seeing now is a bit to much. Probably wouldn't be too bad at Highbanks, but Prairie Oaks has no canopy. Bummer. Looks like a treadmill day.

There may be some rain during the hike and the paths will probably be muddy ... so please dress accordingly. There also is a possibility of an isolated thunderstorm.

Please update your RSVP if you changed your plans. See you at 3pm

Sorry, but I'm ducking out of this, and bringing Hillary with me. Even though the weather is beautiful and balmy, and the walk sounds great, neither of us have the rain gear to make it more than an opportunity to bathe outside. And the weather isn't quite that warm. Looking forward to the next hike, though. Assuming the weather cooperates.

I'm a.doubtful for this. I have a social motorcycle feast that day, and is doubtful it ends before you guys begin. If it does end in time, then it will depend upon how much I feast ;)
