Hi folks! Let's be the judge of this year's fall foliage, as we take a good long walk in great company. This hiking loop is manageable for the average person, but will take a solid two hours.
WHEN AND WHERE: This Meetup will take place at West Woods Trails, which is a Guilford Land Trust preserve in Guilford, CT. Westwoods has many entrances, but we meet at the Sam Hill Road parking area.
As usual, plan to arrive five minutes early. We will meet at 9:55 or 10:00 and begin hiking at five after.
DIRECTIONS: For this hike, we will meet at the Sam Hill Road entrance. From I-95 exit 57. Go east on Route 1 approximately one and a quarter mile. At the second stop light make a right hand turn onto River Street. When the road ends, turn right onto Route 146 (Water Street). Travel a little over a mile, and make a right hand turn onto Sam Hill Road just before the railroad bridge. The trail entrance with parking is immediately on your left.
If you know the area, you can also come the other way from Stony Creek-- drive East on 146, and Sam Hill Road is dead ahead after you go under the railroad bridge at the 90 degree turn by the marsh in Guilford.
$1-2 DONATION: Donations cover the annual cost of the website, ensuring that the group page remains active year-round. Please note that members who arrive without donations for any reason have always been welcomed with warmth and without question.
