Lake Georgetown - Cedar Breaks Park

Getting there: To get there head north on I-35 into Georgetown and turn left onto Highway 29 (Exit 261) and head west. Turn right onto D.B. Woods Road, bear left onto Cedar Breaks Rd.

Follow that until it ends and take a left into the park. After passing through the gate, the trail head is the first left, about 300 feet down the road. When I have gone there early on Sundays before there was no attendant.  If there is one tell them you’re going on the Goodwater trail and they shouldn’t charge you an entrance fee. Worst case scenario, the entrance fee is $4.00.

Optional Car Pool: If people want to car pool, email me and we can meet at the Arboretum REI parking lot around 7:00, but we will have to organize and leave by 7:15, as it is a 40 minute drive from there to the trail head.

We will do a 3-4 hour hike, given the long drive to get there.  Bring water, good shoes, water for dogs if you are bringing a dog. As always call if you are running late or assume that we will have left the trail head on time.

OK - with respect to timing - I think all the information that I have is in the original post. Starting at 8 AM at the trailhead, 3-4 hour hike puts us back at the trailhead between 11-12. With a 40 minute drive back from the trail head to REI - puts us back there between 11:40 and 12:40.

Also I have never had to pay a fee, so that is quite unlikely. Finally I will be at REI - can't speak for anyone else.

    Dave,

How much of the 26 mile trail do you expect to hike?

    • Michele

      Boy, not all I hope!

My estimate is 4 to 5 miles (in each direction), based on 2.5 miles per hour for 3 to 4 hours.

Dave, will you hazard a guess as to when we'll be back at REI?

So, what's up with carpooling? Who's going to meet at REI?
