Getting there: To get there head north on I-35 into Georgetown and turn left onto Highway 29 (Exit 261) and head west. Turn right onto D.B. Woods Road, bear left onto Cedar Breaks Rd.
Follow that until it ends and take a left into the park. After passing through the gate, the trail head is the first left, about 300 feet down the road. When I have gone there early on Sundays before there was no attendant. If there is one tell them you’re going on the Goodwater trail and they shouldn’t charge you an entrance fee.
Optional Car Pool: If people want to car pool, email me and we can meet at the Arboretum REI parking lot around 6:30, but we will have to organize and leave by 6:45, as it is a 40 minute drive from there to the trail head.
Topics - well I'll be back from my tech identity conference so if anyone wants to talk about Internet anonymity, pseudonymity, personal clouds or intentcasting - I'm sure I'll have lots to say. Other topics - what could have caused life on earth - the theory that it came from elsewhere is sometimes called panspermia. I've read recent article that the local chemical conditions initiating life might have been caused by meteors. What else - what super powers do you want? What kind of quantified self or other tech when you get old. I'm holding out for an exo-skeleton forget the wheel chair, plus lots of automated sensors. Lots of more normal stuff to talk about.
We will do a 3-4 hour hike, given the long drive to get there. Bring water, good shoes, water for dogs if you are bringing a dog. As always call if you are running late or assume that we will have left the trail head on time.
