This is not an official entrance to Barton Creek - but it is a well used one - no legal issues. This is the farthest upstream entrance I know. We will have to cross the creek, usually you can cross on rocks, but try to wear shoes that can briefly handle an inch or two of water. Park below the bridge - should be lots of room at 8:00 AM, but if this small road is full park just past the golf course entrance on the other side and walk down.
From Mopac South entrance to 360 go past Scottish Woods and take a left onto Lost Creek, it is almost 3 miles through the neighborhood and there is a small access road (technically Bend O' River Drive, but I've never seen a sign) on the right to go down to the right and below the bridge. If you pass the golf course entrance after the bridge and on the right - turn around and park on the right and walk down.
What might we talk about?
Wearables? Where is that going - glasses, watches, ... clothing doesn't seem right to me then I have to wear the same clothes brand or ... ultimately I want my computing devices implanted or injected, contact lenses, etc. - so that I can swim and shower with full connectivity to my personal cloud. Never forget a name again. Never get lost again. Quantified self/exercise and sleep monitoring blending into all sorts of medical monitoring. Maybe including bio-feedback capabilities that will help me with my meditation practice.
Microsoft's search engine Bing appears to be censoring information for Chinese language users in the U.S. in the same way it filters results in mainland China. What's that about? They'll probably fix that soon.
Oldest known star has been discovered, 13.7 billion years old. I remember when they thought the universe was only 11 billion years old. Time flys.
Trials of a military exoskeleton due in June. How long until I can get the commercial version? Probably won't fly :-(
Does anyone understand how you build distributed applications over bitcoin, I'm interested in the non-monetary side of that.
What else might we talk about? The normal stuff - what happened in our week, etc.
We will go up into the hills on the side away from the Hill of Life and eventually return to creek level and return to lost creek. Hike is estimated to be 2.5 to 3 hours unless we all agree we want to go longer.
Wear good shoes and bring water for yourself - and for your dog if you bring one. As always, we will wait if you are late, on your way and call - otherwise we will leave on time. We will have one short water crossing that might require an inch or so of water - probably not, usually enough stones are above water but it depends on the water level - so try to wear shoes that you would be comfortable if an inch or so got wet briefly.
