Come join us for the views off the north end of Point Reyes National Seashore.
We will duplicate an earlier trek Edmond setup to this area. We will meet at the Historic Pierce Point Ranch trailhead on the northern side of the park. Please arrive between 9AM and 10AM, as to start at 10AM. From my last trip to the park, it did take some time to arrive from the Bay Area (I am accounting for a 3 hour trip from Gilroy). As an in & out trek, the trail will take us to the northern tip of the park at Tomales Bluff and back. We pass the Tule Elk Reserve and observe at a distance Hog Island and Bird Rock. We may witness bird migrations and the Tule Elk Rut. Optionally, we will head to Mc Clures Beach upon returning to the trailhead (a mile extension). We are looking at a 8-10 mile hike (relatively flat with little elevation gain). With a sight seeing pace of 2mph, we are looking at a 5 hour trek - ending between 3 and 4 PM. For those with time, we will gather afterwards for dinner and drinks. If you are lost, confused or have questions, contact me at[masked]-5798.
(Modified from our founder Hugo Garcia's original statement.)
This group is meant for people who have wanted to explore the Bay Area Ridge Trail (the BART) and other Bay Area trails or who just enjoy hiking. Since our hikes are normally in the 10-12 miles range with elevation gain, some hiking experience or at least a reasonable fitness level is expected of you to join us.
Additionally (and the reason for the “More” in the group name), we plan to explore: 1. The State Parks of California and 2. The National Parks of the USA.
DISCLAIMER: You take all risks when joining an event, including of being of reasonable fitness or experience to embark on long hikes like this. I am here just to come up with hiking ideas, show the way, and take head counts before and after and be able to explain if there is a difference.
