Great scenery, beautiful weather, wonderful company, and a bit of adventure. What else could one ask for for a mid October Saturday?

Thank you,Tom, for organizing a hike in this park! Sad to know that it is one of the 70 State Parks identified for closure. The Peters Creek Loop was especially beautiful to see once more.

Other than the two yellowjacket stings, a very pleasant experience. A dead yellowjacket was hiding inside the back of my shirt, so I guess it was not pleasant for that yellowjacket.

Beautiful park. For folks who encountered the YJs, try applying gel Benadryl; it may help reduce the length of itch significantly.

Vivian and I will be at Page Mill at 9:10 am. I can drive or we will be happy to take a ride if there are seats available.

Google maps is not being friendly. For the Page Mill Park & Ride, try:
http://www.google.com/maps?q=Page+Mill+Rd+%26+Arastradero+Rd,+Los+Altos,+CA+94022,+USA&om=1&hnear=Page+Mill+Rd+%26+Arastradero+Rd,+West+Santa+Clara,+Santa+Clara,+California+94022&t=m&z=16&vpsrc=0. The Park & Ride is at the intersection of Page Mill Road and Arastradero in Palo Alto, right of off I-280 (to the south). Meet at 9:10 for the self-organized carpool (ride or drive).

Is there going to be a lunch stop in the middle or is this a much as needed sort of thing? Either is fine, I'm just figuring out what I need to bring.

ok, i'll arrive a bit before 9am. Anyone else living on the Peninsula can meet us at Woodside Elementary ready to leave at 9am. Spilt gas & entrance fee. My cell[masked]

  • Philippe

About leaving at 9:00 AM the latest from the school, to play safe.

    October 13, 2011

  • Deborah

How about Woodside Elementary what time?

    October 13, 2011

  • Philippe

Sounds good Deborah. I'm in Foster City and the 280/Woodside P&R (or Woodside Elementary School) is probably best this Saturday to avoid 92 and pumpkin festival in Half Moon Bay.

    October 13, 2011

  • Deborah

Does anyone want to ride share from the Peninsula I'm in Redwood City can meet at any location? By ride sharing this will help with having way too many cars at the trailhead!!! Let me know Deborah

  • Kevin D.

I will plan to be there at 8:30.

    October 12, 2011

  • Wei-Ling

Am interested to meet at the TraderJoe/Wells Fargo location to carpool. Not sure what is the agreed meeting time? 8:30 or 8:45am? Thanks.

    October 12, 2011

  • A J

Eric, I have often parked there myself for the whole day until night. Because there are so many small shops there and a good deal of parking I don't expect to have a problem if you park in the center somewhere behind the well fargo.

    October 12, 2011

  • Eric E

AJ, are you sure the Trader Joes is a good spot? I recall a posting a few years back from the owner of the bike shop in that lot recommending that cyclists doing their organized rides not park there. It seems that the parking lot started filling up regularly when the Trader Joe's opened.

    October 12, 2011

  • Kevin D.

I like the carpool meeting idea. From that Trader Joe's that's about a 45-60 minute drive. I suggest we meet there are 8:45 and plan to leave the parking lot by 9:00 to be at the trailhead by about 9:45. The estimate of 6 hours to do this hike should be plenty of time.

    October 12, 2011

  • A J

Seems it would be a good idea to have a carpool meeting place with this many people and probably not that much parking. I would suggest meeting here:
    Trader Joe's?
    2310 Homestead Road # K
    Los Altos, CA 94024
    (408)[masked]

I am also interested in how late this hike will run? I need to be somewhere at 6PM.
