This group is meant for people who have wanted to explore the Bay Area Ridge Trail (the BART) or who just enjoy hiking and need an excuse. Since our hikes are normally in the 10-12 miles range with elevation gain, some hiking experience or at least a reasonable fitness level is expected of you to join us. BEGINNERS PLEASE CHECK THE “ABOUT” MENU FOR ADVICE. To incorporate another passion of mine, I will also be attempting to know the rocks or geology of the BART.  I will write-up little “Geology of the Hike” notes in the postings and so watch for them if you are curious about the ground beneath your feet.

Additionally (and the reason for the “More” in the group name), I plan to explore: 1. The State Parks of California, 2. The National Parks of the USA, and finally 3. Parks or hiking places of countries around the Pacific Rim. As well and as a way to get beginners in shape, I've started local easy hikes around my neighborhood. These are known as FIT (Fremont Interesting Trails) hikes. Please look in the “About” menu for more details on the BART and these other hiking interests I have for the group.

Finally, my last interest (although some people may say it is my first) for this group is to explore the micro-breweries of the greater San Francisco Bay Area as we encounter them near our hikes.
