Bay Area Ridge Trail & More Message Board › Important vote re. parklands acquisition in Santa Clara County - please cons
San Jose, CA
The Santa Clara County Supervisors are voting on 3/29 on the Parklands Acquisition Plan for the county. This plan sets a guideline for how resources will be spent in the county in regards to acquiring additional parkland; please consider emailing the supervisors with your comments about this important plan.
The Santa Clara County Parks Department has a history of focusing on acquiring parkland that has a regional focus, such as Joseph D. Grant, Mt. Madonna, and Sanborn. The department’s proposed Parklands Acquisition Plan keeps this regional focus. Two supervisors, Liz Kniss and Mike Wasserman, have issued a memorandum supporting the proposed plan and its regional focus. Two other supervisors, Dave Cortese and George Shirakawa, have issued a memorandum suggesting that the proposed plan be changed to take out the regional focus. Instead, these supervisors would like for the county parks department to focus more on acquiring smaller urban parks. Supervisor Ken Yeager seems to be undecided.
