One of my favorite urban hikes is a route along the South Fork of Thornton Creek. It starts on the edge of Lake City and Maple Leaf, and goes to the edge of Northgate Mall before looping back. It's an incredible mix of public art and architecture, leafy trails, creekside views and wildlife right in the city. Plus cool stairways!
My only paddling experience is sea kayaking. Dragon boating sounds like fun! Do you drink beer afterwards?
Hiking and walking with a bunch of fun people.
I love urban hikes in Seattle. My wife Cathy and I are coauthors of "Seattle Stairway Walks," published in 2012 by Mountaineers Books. We look forward to leading some routes from the book!
Really nice people, and most who RSVPd showed up.
