This is our THIRD attempt to have this activity, after two rain cancellations! Third time is the charm!
This is our FINAL hike of the River-to-River Hike Series. We will walk our trails in the Chipola Section, including the Altha Trail and the Blountstown Greenway. We will first hike about 3 miles (1.5 in, and 1.5 back out) on the beautiful new Altha Trail along the Chipola River. We will then drive down to Blountstown for a 3.5 mile walk along the paved Greenway. As we pass through town on the Greenway, we will stop for lunch at the El Jalisco Mexican restaurant, and visit the M&B Railroad Museum. Please bring a few dollars for a donation at the museum.
Tony Shoemake, Mayor of Blountstown and local historian, will be our guide on the Greenway to share information about the history and other interesting features of the M&B Railroad and Blountstown.
The total walking distance for the day will be about 7 miles, but the terrain is flat and our walk will be broken up into three segments with rests between.
We'll meet at the Lynn Haven Winn Dixie at 7:30 am for anyone who wants to carpool. Please remember to tip your driver at least $5 for gas if you ride.
We expect to arrive at the Altha trailhead about 8:30 am. If you wish to meet us there, it is located on SR 274 where it crosses over the Chipola River, about 1 1/2 miles east of SR 73. The traihead is on the east side of the River.
Bring hat, water, snacks, good walking shoes, camera, cash for your driver, and bug repellent. With the exception of the restaurant and museum, there are no restroom facilities along these two trails.

Thanks for participating in the River-to-River Hike series! See you there!
