Join us for a hike on the lovely Eastern Lake Trail in Point Washington State Forest, followed by a picnic lunch at nearby Eden Gardens State Park!
We will meet at K-Mart near the Hathaway Bridge at 8:00 AM for carpooling, and will arrive at the Eastern Lake Trail at about 8:45 AM. The trailhead parking area is located on CR 395 about 1 ½ miles south of US 98, about 30 miles west of the Hathaway Bridge.
After completing the 6-mile Eastern Lake Trail loop, we will drive a few miles north on CR 395 to Eden Gardens State Park for lunch, where some may also wish to take a short walk on the pretty Nature Trail and tour the Wesley Mansion (see below for fees).
For those who might prefer a LONG hike, you may hike the 11-mile loop of the Eastern Lake Trail instead of the 6-mile loop, and have lunch on the trail instead of at the State Park with the rest of the group. The two groups will separate about 2 miles into the hike.
Fees: $2 per person for the Eastern Lake Trail, $4 per carload to enter Eden Gardens State Park, and $4 per person for the Wesley Mansion tour (optional). Carpoolers are also reminded to "tip" their drivers to help with the cost of gas. Well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome at both locations.
Bring water, lunch, bug spray, a hat, comfortable walking shoes, and small bills for fees. Contact Activity Leader Ron Peterson or Co-Activity Leader Andi Beauchamp for more information. Mary Thurman, another Co-activity Leader, will lead the "11-mile" group. The 6-mile hike is considered "moderate" while the 11-mile hike is considered "strenuous". Hikers are strongly encouraged to consider their physical ability before committing to the 11-mile loop. A map of the Eastern Lake Trail has been posted on this site, under "More" and "Files".
