Passion & Painting at Picasso's Paint-Your-Own Ceramics

We have had 2 fabulous events already and they are getting better each time. To change the theme a bit and mix it up a little...in addition to catharsis and relaxation, we decided as a group that this event will be a pot-luck so everyone will bring something for all...enough for about 10-14 people. Please post here (publicly) what you plan to bring so we have a well-rounded meal with variety, taste, health, and sharing in mind.

*The owner Brian has agreed that we can use the studio on a regular basis. When we come in, after the 7th time...you can choose any piece in the studio 50% off. If we are regulars there, he is willing to offer us a regular group discount.

It was so much fun and the studio provides all the tools, brushes, sponges, glaze in every shade you can think of, special effects, and lots and lots of help for those who need it. It is well worth the cost and much healthier than a happy hour event. Each piece is individually priced. I haven't done ceramics in many years so can't wait to see what mine looks like after it is fired. If I may make a suggestion, Sunday in the middle of the day is a difficult time and there are a lot of children's parties going on so it gets quite noisy. Perhaps if we tried doing it mid week, more folks will join us. They are open till 8:00 PM on weekdays and perhaps starting at 5:00 PM and folks can stay as long as they like or if they arrive late, there is still plenty of time to create and chat. Either we can do pot luck or go out for a quick bite afterwards. Any thoughts? I plan on going back once a week with or without the group but having other group members there would be much better.

Always willing to help out. We can discuss what night, how often, etc. Are you OK with me putting it on the schedule for next Tuesday or Wednesday from 5-8 bring a snack to share? Hopefully we can see if there is interest or other suggested times from the group.

Did you ever consider doing the pottery event more often than once every five weeks? Maybe every other week? I would be more that happy to be the host for this particular event. Do you think a weekday evening would bring out more folks? I did this years ago back in Brooklyn NY and again in Princeton, NJ and really enjoyed it. Very relaxing, a chance to be creative, and the cost is very reasonable.

Pottery is when you start from scratch with a lump of clay and form it how ever you like. Ceramics as this is, is when you pick a premolded bowl or figurine for example and you paint it with glaze. Th ceramics studio then fires it in the kiln and you have a beautiful shinny piece to take home. I haven't been to this studio yet either so why not give it a try.

can you clarify whether pieces are pure pottery or are there ceramic items as well? Thanks!

I must be dense. Are you painting pottery which you purchase or making pottery which you then paint?
