Can, Jam, Pickle and Swap

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • At the height of harvest season, it would be great to do a meetup on canning (this might even work as a series) various fruits and vegetables.

It would also be fun to do a swap since many of us end up with jars of the same thing when we're done canning.

I can host this in my backyard for up to 6 people and provide heat via my stove and portable stove-tops.

    Attendees will need to bring:

    -Jars and lids for canning.
    -Ingredients for canning.
    -Pots to heat/cook.

If anyone is looking to learn food preservation techniques, such as pressure canning or fermentation, I teach affordable classes.

I'm interested and will be thinking about where we might be able to have this event. An older community church perhaps with one of those rad kitchens?

when is the height of harvest season? Shall we set a target for everyone to bring their produce? i.e. start growing?

Sounds totally fun! If we all brought camp stoves, we might be able to meet in a park or something.

I would REALLY like to learn how to do this. I had close to 20 tomato plants this year, & we were overwhelmed! Would have been great to can them.

Depending on the date, would love to attend. My mom made pickles and I have made jam. I have my ball jars
