Create Intentional Community

  • Jul 24, 2013 · 6:30 PM

We are forming a collective on the same property with two other collectives in the Grant Hill neighborhood.

This collective is for you if you have an interest or a background in permaculture, urban homesteading, voluntary simplicity, co-operative living and social activism. It is also for you if you are open to Christian mysticism, contemplative prayer, stillness/ hesychia or New Monasticism. We are open-minded and LGBTQ friendly.

We are a married couple in our mid-30s - one of us is working on finishing a PhD in philosophy and the other works at a nature preserve. We are hoping to form a collective with some good folks who share a similar vision for life.

We would love to meet up with you to talk about visions for community.

I possibly am interested in the collective you are forming and in coming tonight.
For one, I am interested in permaculture, homesteading, voluntary simplicity, co-operative living, and social activism.
On the other hand, I am not myself a practitioner of Christian mysticism or contemplative prayer nor do I plan on pursuing that path, but I do think it is a good path. I am currently walking the path of the Buddha as I understand it from the Theravada tradition. Though our paths are somewhat different I see no conflict in possible future co-operative living. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Thank you for doing this. It is a bit far for me to commute to but I wish you the best. Please let me know if you need anything seed related or animal husbandry related. I am passionate about helping good works succeed.

That sounds Amazing. This is not where we are at right now as a family but in a slightly different parallel universe I am so there. Good luck!

O my gosh! what you are up to is phenomenal! We are doing the exact same thing on our half acre here in San Clemente. Our home is called Mother Moon Monastery and we follow the teachings of Brother Jesus. We also live in simplicity! We have a YouTube channel where we teach herbalism, vintage kitchen skills and "Herban Homesteading". We milk goats, collect Chicken, Duck and Quail eggs and have a worm farm. We are up to creating a food forest and herb farm! So wonderful to hear there are others who are hearing the call of Spirit to create monastic community! Love and Bless Bless, J
