  • This location is shown only to members

Finch Frolic Garden, a permaculture food forest and habitat, will be hosting open tour days for those who cannot make the 5-person minimum for a regular tour reservation. Tours last about two hours and are intensive demonstrations of most-things permaculture, from rain-catchment to cob ovens; sheet-mulching to native plants. Maximum attendance per tour is 15; tour costs $10/person, and children under 10 are free of charge. Please, no pets. Please wear sun protection and comfortable clothing. RSVP to [masked]. Open Tour days are on Sundays and Thursdays: August 3, 7, 24 and 28, and Sept. 7, 11, 21 and 25. All tours begin at 10. Come be inspired to add permaculture techniques to your garden, no matter what size!

The tour was awesome! Definitely worth the admission price. Diane, could you please post the name of the permaculture guy who helped you design it?

Chad, thank you and your lovely family for attending! There weren't any permaculture designers in the area when I began the garden, so I hired Roger Boddaert who I knew had an open mind for the project. Many things have been changed since I took my PDC course. There are permaculture designers now in San Diego. I consult, Josh Robinson of the San Diego Sustainable Institute is awesome (and teaches the PDCs), and there are more. Jacob Hatch does the natural waterways and ponds. Bob Lloyd of PuraVida Aquatics does natural ponds and swimming pool conversions; both do bioremediation.

We're overbooked for tomorrow. If anyone would like to change to this coming Thursday, please let me know, or if you are interested in next Sunday, we can do another Open Tour then as well. Thanks! Diane

Wonderful Gwyn. I'll put you down for three. We're off Alvarado in Fallbrook. Tour begins promptly at 10. See you then!
