Workshop: Make Herbal Teas For Yourself or as Gifts

The holidays are coming up - and so is cold and flu season. Come learn to make medicinal herbal teas either for yourself or as gifts for friends. We will talk about growing and drying herbs, but we will be making teas with herbs purchased from People's co-op. (Even if you have to buy herbs instead of growing them, it's usually cheaper to make your own teas instead of buying them pre-made.)

Make and take home your own teas. Teas you can make include ones to ease anxiety, help sleep, ease indigestion, boost your immune system, sooth a sore throat or a cough, ease menstrual cramps or PMS, help you go #2, and more.

Learn about buying herbs, storing herbs, where to learn about the effects of various herbs, and instructions for how to make herbal infusions, decoctions, tinctures, syrups, and more.

The cost of the workshop is $30 and it covers the cost of materials. You'll take home 2 cups of loose teas that you make yourself. ($8 per additional cup of loose tea you'd like to make.) I'll provide mason jars and labels for you to put your tea in.

There were a few people who attended but did not get all of the handouts. Can you let me know who you are - email me at OrangeClouds115 at gmail dot com - and I'll print them out and mail them to you.

No problem, as long as it's after 2pm and before dark please. I'm doing a Backyard Chickens workshop from noon to 2 that day so it'll have to be after that is over with. Maybe 3pm or 4pm, so that I can get a bite to eat in between? It's OK if the sun goes down while you're over, just so long as we have some time when it's light to be in the garden. Do one of those times work for you? Let me know and I'll announce it to the whole group so that anyone else who wants to can come too.

I would love to attend this meetup but already have plans for that day. Hopefully by popular demand another herbal tea class will be offered real soon. :)

Hey Sonya - I'd be glad to do another class just for you if you'd like. You can pick a time/date that works for you and I'll post it on here for everyone. If others can come, great. If you're the only one who shows up, that's fine too. The one caveat is that I'm in a nice place with a garden and lots of herbs I'm growing right now, and I'm on the brink of moving to a yucky apartment with no garden. My last day here is Dec. 18 although I'll likely leave sooner. So the sooner we do it, the better, because I'd love to show you what I've done with the garden here.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
